Conspiracy Once Hatched Against India… Now Pulwama-Like Attack Hits Pakistan, 16 Soldiers Killed (Source: ChatGPT)

A major suicide bombing has taken place in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, in the North Waziristan district. The attack mirrors the Pulwama attack carried out in India six years ago. In this incident, a suicide bomber rammed an explosives-laden vehicle into a military convoy, killing 16 Pakistani soldiers and injuring 10 others. The explosion also damaged nearby houses, injuring 19 civilians including women and children.

Pulwama-Like Attack Strikes Pakistan

A similar attack has previously been carried out by Pakistan in Pulwama, India.  Forty soldiers were killed on February 14, 2019, when a suicide bomber crashed a car loaded with explosives into a convoy of Indian security forces. India later retaliated with the Balakot airstrike. Now, Pakistan seems to be trapped in the very web it once spun, as it suffers an attack in the exact same manner it had used against India six years ago.

TTP Group 'Usud ul Harb' Claims Responsibility

The recent attack took place in Mir Ali, North Waziristan, near the Khadi Market. The bomber's vehicle collided with a military convoy. Reports suggest the vehicle that was struck belonged to the army's bomb disposal unit. The group 'Usud ul Harb' from the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) claimed responsibility. According to reports, this group is connected to the network of Hafiz Gul Bahadur and Ittehad-ul-Mujahideen.

House Roofs Collapse, Children Injured

According to an AFP report citing a local police officer, the blast caused the roofs of two houses to collapse, injuring six children. The officer noted that the explosion came amid a rising trend of terrorist attacks in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. A Geo News report stated that the Pakistani military has killed 10 suspected terrorists linked to the TTP. Earlier, terrorists had also carried out a suicide bombing near a Frontier Corps camp at the Jandola checkpoint in South Waziristan.

Pakistan Ranks Second in Terror-Related Deaths

According to the Global Terrorism Index 2025, deaths due to terrorism in Pakistan rose by 45%, from 748 in 2023 to 1,081 in 2024. This increase places Pakistan second globally in terms of terrorist-related fatalities. Afghanistan holds the top spot on the list.
